| I am an Aussie. Although I was born in Australia I moved to Papua New Guinea with my parents when I was only a few months old and was brought up in the jungle. When I was a teenager my family and I moved to Brisbane - Australia. |
| As
a teenager living in Brisbane I was introduced to surfing by friends who enjoyed the sport. Every weekend and even sometimes during the week I would travel to the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast and spend as much time as I could in the surf. |
| One Christmas I had the opportunity of going to a camp at a beach on the Gold Coast. I decided to go because I figured I could spend all week surfing. But instead I attended many of the meetings which were held in a huge marquee along with about 1,000 other young people. |
| On New Year's Day I listened intently as the speaker spoke about Jesus Christ, Heaven and Eternal Life. He challenged us to surrender our lives to the power and control of Jesus Christ. |
| As a surfer I understood how I must surrender to the power of a wave and be drawn along by it's control. I also know the sweet joy that comes from riding a wave all the way to the shore. |
| Surrendering to Jesus Christ was just like catching the best wave that ever existed! (The ones we only ever dream of). |
| Well, following Jesus is no dream, my friend! It is total reality! Now many years later, I am still riding that wave that will not dump me until I safely reach that "Heavenly" shore. |
| I don't carry a surf board very often these days. Instead I carry a sketchboard into the streets and city centers of our world. Before me is an ocean of people and a sea of faces. I wrestle with waves of indifference and currents of predudice. I fight the tides of self-indulgence and the ebb and flow of materialistic self-seeking humanity. ![]() |
| I set up my sketchboard and paint pictures and diagrams to illustrate and explain the Good News of Salvation through Jesus Christ. |
| Why? Well, if you were about to catch the best wave there is, but saw a fellow surfer drowning, what would you do? Would you catch the wave or rescue the one who is drowning? |
| People are drowning in sin! They need to be rescued! There are souls that are lost. There are souls that are in pain and turmoil. There are souls that are searching for truth in a world full of lies. There are souls that need an answer. There are souls that need direction and stability. There are souls that simply need the Lord! |
| Through God's help I have seen men and women, young people and old brought to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. They have surrendered theirlives to Jesus Christ's control. They are now on their way to that "Heavenly" shore. They are riding through life with the best friend and companion they could ever have - Jesus Christ the Son of God. |
| Friend, you may or may not be a "real" surfer. But you got here today by
"surfing" the Internet. Maybe it's a little different than literal surfing, But let me tell you something really IMPORTANT. Jesus Christ is the ONLY answer for your life. No mater what religion you are or whether you are not religious. Whether you are a business person, a student, someone unemployed, or someone with the best job in the world. The truth of the matter is you need to have your sin forgiven. The only one who can do it is Jesus Christ. |
| You don't want me to tell you that you are a sinner. So I won't! But I will tell you
that a sinner is simply one who fails to reach the mark. God's mark! It is perfection. I certainly can't reach that and I haven't met anyone who can. I'm not going to say you can't reach that mark of perfection my friend. I'm just going to say - be honest with yourself. |
| The only one on this earth who ever reached that mark is now reaching out to you. His name is Jesus Christ. He took your punishment. He became your substitute and died in your place. Will you put your trust in Him and surrender to Him today? |
